Good Versus Bad Websites

By Lize Monelt

People have always judged books by their covers and these days, they'll judge your website by its appearance as well. So if your pages look like they are past their expiry date, it's time for an image update. Your website's appearance isn't the only thing that contributes to its success. There are still dated-looking websites out there that generate traffic and revenue for their owners. But you don't want to set your website up with such a disadvantage from the start.

A website that brings in a lot of business should have a great business plan, and look attractive to the site visitor. Whether your business sells a product or service that is digital or physical is an important factor when deciding on your website design. Are you going to be gathering sales leads to supplement an offline business?

Websites need a mechanism in place to gain something from their presence. They aren't sitting around, wishing for people to visit their website and spend their money on their products and services . These businesses are using some well-known and verified business plans to increase productivity with online marketing techniques.

To set yourself apart from the competition, it's a good idea to make your site original and engaging to those who visit it. With so much competition out there, it's almost impossible to have success without doing something original with your business. And if you want your site to be a success you must invest at least as much time courting new visitors using a variety of different techniques as you spend improving the content on your pages. Getting new visitors to see your webpage is of the utmost importance, so everyone should make efforts in this area every day, and the best techniques for you will become evident.

You should go with the assumption that every hit is a new visitor. Have a design that is simple, so they can easily discover what they desire. Put yourself in their shoes, thinking, "If I was visiting this site, how would I get around?" Always have the customer in mind. This is one thing people seem to forget. Your favorite colors may not be the best fit for your product. It is important whether the user is going to get turned off by a blue and pink site. Your end user should always be kept in mind. Set your key take away goals and constantly analyze if you are moving toward or away from that goal. If your website is not going to be clear and laid out properly, there it's pointless to even have it.

Every website needs a well-defined purpose. Those who run websites who have a clear business plan can figure out what content is best, the most effective way to interact with potential customers, and many other things by using the plan and goals and comparing them to the actual current state of the company.
